Peter Lux-best husband, son, brother, grandson, uncle, student, friend, neighbor, welder, co-worker, fisher, not dove hunter.

Peter Bancroft Lux, 29, died March 11, 2024, at his home in the loving hands of his wife, Natasha Lux, and his parents.

Peter was born at Ft. Bragg, NC, on September 22, 1994, to David P. and Mary (Bancroft) Lux. They moved to Norfolk in 1996. Peter graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School in 2013. He furthered his education at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and earned a bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management. During the summers in high school, he worked at the Aquaventure water park and later with the State Game and Parks Commission. Peter moved back to Norfolk in 2018 and went to work at the Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska before he became a team member at Vulcraft.

He married the love of his life, Natasha Jean Jensen, on August 26, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Along with their playful dogs, Lou and Luna, they built a life of great love and adventure and joy. They enjoyed traveling even when there were unexpected highlights such as having to kill a mouse in the cabin or trying out his Spanish and failing and losing each other in Mexico. He always found humor in these situations.

Peter’s life was one of active engagement with the world around him. He was an outdoor enthusiast often found fishing, hiking, hunting, sailing, working in the yard or building structures such as a deck for his wife which resulted in the demolition of their backyard. Indoors he enjoyed playing video games, cooking and watching movies and tv shows. His recent favorites included Tusk, Cocaine Bear and Chopped. He was very good at games with the possible exception of axe throwing even though he thought his plaid shirt would make him an expert. We will miss the rhubarb dishes and biscuits that he made. He was also good at cooking deer in a way that it didn’t taste like deer. Peter loved animals and had many pets throughout his life including a tarantula, a turtle, a gecko, fish and his dogs. Peter was a man of many talents. He played guitar, taught himself to play the banjo and took up lock picking. Peter liked to make everyone laugh with puns and corny jokes or startle them by hiding a shrunken head under their pillow.

Throughout his life, Peter, enjoyed the experience of eating food. He wasn’t afraid to try new things. Near the end of his life, he was unable to eat but became a beverage connoisseur. He spent a lot of time ordering unusual drinks from websites and finding recipes for cocktails, smoothies and all things frosty. Some of these didn’t turn out as well as he had hoped but his family was happy to oblige him.

Peter is survived by his wife, Natasha (Jensen) Lux; parents, David and Mary Lux; siblings, Paul Lux, Therese (Jay) Johnson, Raymond Lux and fiancé Emma Neuhalfen; grandparents, Kathryn Lux and John Bancroft; his aunts and uncles, Chris (Cynthia) Bancroft, Joe (LoAnn) Lux, Bob (Mary Ann) Lux, Dennis (Colleen) Lux, Beth (Steve) Walker, Margaret (Rich) Siel, and Patrick (Jayce) Lux; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of friends and colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond Lux and Barbara Bancroft.

Peter touched many lives and will be truly missed.
