Anthony "Tony" Kochenash Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Kochenash, age 89, passed away March 14, 2024, at the Norfolk Veteran's Home.

Per Tony's request, his body will be donated to the Anatomical Board of Nebraska.

A private burial will be later in Canon City, Colorado.

Arrangements were entrusted to Home for Funerals in Norfolk.

Kochenash was born April 5, 1934, in Cementon, PA, the son of Michael and Marie (Pello) Kochenash, the youngest of eight children. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He graduated from Whitehall High School, Hokendauqua, PA, received a BS Degree in Business Administration and Economics from Moravian College, Bethlehem, PA, a Masters Degree in Marketing Education from Temple University, Philadelphia, and a PHD in Vocational Ed Adm from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO.

His career in education began at Emmaus High School and at a Vo-tech School in Easton, PA., then to the Minndak Vocational Career Center in North Dakota and the San Luis Valley Vocational Tech School in Colorado. He then spent 13 years teaching marketing at Chadron State and five years at Wayne State before retiring.

Kochenash joined the Air Force in 1956 and spent 4 years at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. He was proud of his time playing baseball (pitching) for the Air Force team. He was an avid Phili baseball fan and was proud to support and follow the Wayne State baseball team. He was involved for many years with the ELKS Youth Activities Committee, was a boy scout leader, and youth baseball coach.

In Wayne he was an active member of Main Street Wayne, served on the Chautauqua Committee and was co-chair of the Q125 Celebration. He enjoyed traveling...he and Marie had checked off all destinations on their travel "bucket list." He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marie Mohr; sons, Michael Kochenash (Liz Cowsert) The Villages, FL. and Karl "Gunther" Kochenash, Fort Collins, CO.; grandchildren, Stephen, David (Amanda), and Julie Michelle Kochenash; great- granddaughter, Cora Kochenash; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and siblings, Catherine Tarnopolsky, Helen Prosak, Rose Kokolus, John Kochenash, Irene Yuhas, Anne Hiryak, and Milton Kochenash.
