Hilda E. Knapp

Funeral Services for Hilda E. Knapp, age 92, of Madison, Nebraska will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, at St. John Lutheran - Green Garden Church in rural Madison. Reverend Barry Williams will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Resseguie Funeral Home in Madison.

Hilda passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Arbor Care Center - Countryside in Madison.

Hilda Erna Knapp was born on August 30, 1931, to Herman and Augusta (Koll) Hilkemann in Hadar, Nebraska. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Church in Hadar. On February 6, 1955, Hilda married Eugene Knapp at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk.

Hilda enjoyed working in her garden and helping Eugene on the farm. The family was significant for Hilda. She loved spending time with her family at birthday parties and playing 10-point Pitch. Hilda loved playing games with her grandchildren. She made wonderful pies and fried chicken; everyone loved her cooking.

Her children survive her: Kathleen (Michael) Rea of Tucson, AZ and their sons Patrick and Jeffrey, Jeanette Kortje of Norfolk and her children Travis and Stephanie, Brian (Dawn) Knapp of Madison, and their children Anthony, Melissa (Levi) Johnson, and Brittany, and Lauri Knapp of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Bruce and Jeremy; and siblings, Herman (Esther) Hilkemann, Helen (George) Amend, Edward (Betty) Hilkemann, Fred (Ruth) Hilkemann, Dorothy (Elmer) Thompson, Ella (Willard) Bohn, Gladys (Alvin) Spreeman, Paul (Violet) Hilkemann, Sr., Herbert (Twila) Hilkemann, and Walter (Clydine) Hilkemann.

Memorials are requested to St. John Green Garden Church or The Lutheran Hour.
