Barbara J. (Ernesti) Houlette

Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara J. Houlette, 73, Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Reverend Scott Schilmoeller will be the celebrant.  Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service Thursday at St. Mary’s Church.  Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Houlette passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk.

Barbara Jean was born May 25, 1945 to her parents William and Marie (Arnburger) Ernesti in Clearwater, Nebraska.  She grew up on the family farm south of Ewing in the St. John’s Community.  In 1963, Barbara graduated from Ewing High School. 

On July 3, 1968, Barbara married Forrest Houlette at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk.  The couple moved to Norfolk in 1970. 

Barbara worked as a Psychiatric Technician at the Norfolk Regional Center for 23 years.  She served as a Eucharistic Minister and partook in Perpetual Adoration at St. Mary’s Church.  Also, Barbara was a member of the Catholic Daughters. 

She enjoyed music and attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. 

She is survived by her husband, sons Christopher (Denice) of Pierre, SD and Nathan of Norfolk, grandchildren Justin and Brayden, sister Bonnie (Craig) Rice of Rockford, IL and nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, brother Don Ernesti, and sisters Ruth White and Rose Yunker.

Memorials are requested to be made to the Norfolk Catholic Schools.
