Becky passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Community Pride Care Center, Battle Creek, after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.

Becky was born Sept. 10, 1952 to Fred and Margerie (Unkel) Fuhrmann in Norfolk, Nebraska. She was baptized on October 5, 1952 and confirmed on April 3, 1966 at St. Paul's Church in Norfolk she attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1970. On August 26, 1973 she married John R. Schroeder of Battle Creek in Norfolk.

John and Becky lived their entire married life on the farm southwest of Battle Creek.

Although she loved the farm life she always worked in Norfolk where she cherished the lifelong friendships she made at each of her jobs beginning as a car hop at age 13 at A&W Drive-In. During the 70's she worked at Dale Electronics until she began her 23-year career as a machinist at Custom Machine and Tool. After retiring she worked as a morning stocker at Menards and then helped out in the embroidery department at Custom Sports until her health began to fail.

Becky spent countless hours volunteering in her community and church. She was in the Battle Creek Betterment Club, and the B.C. Flyers 4-H Club leader for 14 years where she helped many 4-H's build model rockets; she served on the Madison County Fair Board. For her love of Christ, she served on numerous St. John committees and boards, including building committee, Altar Guild, Evangelism, and Festmahl. In 2006 she was chosen as Battle Creek's Outstanding Citizen.

Her hobby was going to rummage sales and auctions and then selling her 'finds' on E-bay. She always had a garden and canned vegetables. Becky liked to travel, especially to Idaho.

Becky has one daughter Amy (Jimmy) Towner of Sioux City who was adopted by Jack and Priscilla Peacock. Becky and Amy were reunited in 1995.

John and Becky have two sons, Lucas (Carri) Schroeder of Stewartville, Minnesota and Jackson Schroeder of Battle Creek.

She is survived by her husband John, children, Amy, Lucas and Jackson, mother, Margerie Fuhrmann of Norfolk, 2 brothers, Bill (Jean) Fuhrmann of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Mike (Julie) Fuhrmann of Lawrence, Kansas, Sister-in-law, Jo (Jerry) Stanley of Lincoln, four grand-children, 5 great grandchildren, special aunt Jeanette Volk, uncles, nephews, nieces and numerous cousins.

Becky was preceded in death by her father, Fred Fuhrmann, in-laws, George and Zenna Schroeder, Grand-parents and one great-grand daughter.

Memorials are suggested to the Battle Creek Lions Food Bank and St. John "Love Deeply and Widely” school remodeling campaign.
