Services for Beverly Perkins-Bobb of Norfolk, whose love and talent for music served to bless many throughout her life. will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, Norfolk.  Burial will be in Stanton Cemetery, Stanton.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Home for Funerals Norfolk Ave location, Norfolk, Nebraska.

            Beverly died Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Services.

            Beverly Ann (Busskohl) Perkins-Bobb was born March 30, 1926, in Norfolk to Carl and Clara (Fisher) Busskohl of Norfolk. She received her schooling in the Norfolk Public Schools, graduating from Norfolk Senior High School in 1944.

Following graduation, she attended Stephens College, a women’s college located in Columbia, Mo. She later studied at the Methodist School of Nursing in Omaha, becoming a registered nurse.

Following her graduation, she was employed at Methodist Hospital in Omaha as a surgical nurse and later at the former Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk. She also worked as a private nurse in several individual homes and later served as director of nursing at Valley View Nursing Home and St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.

On April 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald H. Perkins of Stanton at the United Methodist Church in Norfolk. To this union, five children were born.

The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Stanton for a number of years. While living in the Stanton area, she was a member of the New England Congregational Church, where she also was an active member of the Women’s Fellowship and the Jr. Women’s Club.

She was also an active member of Stanton Chapter 146, Order of Eastern Star, serving in several capacities.

Moving to Norfolk in 1967, she continued her involvement in the Order of Eastern Star through the Norfolk Chapter 40, serving as Worthy Matron in 1963 and later as Worthy Grand Matron for the state of Nebraska. In that capacity, she traveled throughout the United States and Canada to participate in various meetings.

She also served as president of the Daughters of the Nile of Norfolk. She also held office at the national and international level and served on the board for the Masonic Children’s Home in Fremont for many years.

Beverly was actively involved in the United Methodist Church in Norfolk, serving on many committees. She was president of the United Methodist Women’s Group and served on its board of trustees. Involved from its inception as co-founder, she also participated as a leader and instructor in the church’s Stephen Ministry.

While living in the Stanton area, she served as vocalist for a number of plays she helped to organize, reflecting her love for music that was an important part of her life. After moving to Norfolk, she sang in the choir and played in the bell choir at the United Methodist Church in Norfolk.

As a lead soprano soloist, Beverly loved singing in the church and in the community of Norfolk. Her interest in music was reflected by her service on the community concert board of directors as well as her participation in multiple Norfolk Community Theatre musicals.

She served on the board of directors of the Tilden Bank for 20 years.

In 1970, Beverly’s husband, Don, died after a lingering illness.

She married Marvin Bobb, who was a Norfolk High School classmate, on April 10, 2004, and they resided in Sun Lakes, Ariz., until 2016. Marvin died in January of 2018.

Beverly thoroughly enjoyed quality time with family, traveling with friends and blessing others with her musical talents.

Survivors include her children, Michael Perkins of Monarch Beach, Calif., Bonnie Christensen of Clarks, Neb., Sandra and her husband, Michael Aletraris, and Ann and her husband, Bill Huse, all of Peachtree City, Ga.; a brother, Doyle Busskohl of Norfolk; a son-in-law, Henry Kammandel Jr. of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Inez Perkins Barth of Stanton and Sherry Busskohl of Omaha; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and step-children, Doug and Jean Bobb of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jim and Diane Bobb of Chandler, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a daughter, Robin Kammandel; a brother, Douglas Busskohl; a sister-in-law, Jane Busskohl; and a son-in-law, Scott Thornton. She was also preceded in death by sister and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Jack Chace, Wallace Barth and Evelyn and Walter Schellpeper.

Memorials may be directed to the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children or the United Methodist Church in Norfolk.
