Linda, Cory & Chris: So sorry to hear about your Dad. He was one of the best. I still have good memories of being at your homes in Norfolk growing up. Your Dad could laugh but was always such a calm & KIND man. Prayers to you all.

Thanks so much, Lisa. Cory, Chris and I were talking about how calm Dad always was - nothing ever seemed to unnerve him. It was amazing. Thank you so much for your love and support.

Memories of the Bendixen family stretch back many years to Madison County District 17 school days. Being the little one of the Bendixen/Porath neighboring farms, produces a flood of memories (Ben, Alma, Carl, Gerald, Geraldine). One of which is the blue Dodge Watkins van, doubling as the Watkins traveling business and a school bus for our families. The small stool between the front seats for the little one (Rod) to ride to and from school. The memories carry on with Carl and I serving in Co. 'B' 134th Inf. Army National Guard for a short time before his discharge. Carl's humor brought a light note to Co 'B'. His warmth and caring concern for our family in times of the death of loved ones, as well as friends, laid to rest through the Home for Funerals. It's almost as if Carl took care of us from little on. My last visit with Carl came a couple of months ago @ St Joseph's. My wife had an appointment in Norfolk. I learned of Carl's location and decided to stop and pay him a visit. Short but memorable. Shar and I send our thoughts and prayers for Carl's family, Gerald and Geraldine's families. Though years and locations have separated our families, we send our love and utmost respect, as well as the peace of our Creator-God. Carl now rests in the loving care of Jesus.

Mr. Bendixen was a Norfolk icon, father, friend, and neighbor. He was a gentle and kind soul and I'll always remember him being there in good times and times which were tough.
Goodspeed Mr. Bendixen.

My deepest sympathy to Carl's family. I went to mortuary school with Carl and we took our State Boards together. I always enjoyed him. He was a friend and fellow Mortician. I am so sorry that I can not attend the service, but my health is not very good. Know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless Carl and may he RIP.

Peg,
So sorry, such sad news. Carl was one of the first people I met at NJC and became one of my best friends through school and several years in the National Guard. He was such a great person. My sympathy to you.
