Carole Ann (Boyd) Horner

Funeral services for Carole Ann (Boyd) Horner, 76, of Russellville, AR, formerly of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Home for Funerals, 1203 W Norfolk Ave: Deacon Jim Doolittle will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. 

            Carole Ann (Boyd) Horner, age 76, of Russellville departed this life, Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home.  She was born July 9, 1942, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Robert and Arletta (Kluge) Boyd.

            She graduated from Norfolk High School in Norfolk, Nebraska and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She taught elementary school in Dalton, Nebraska, and in North Loup-Scotia Nebraska, there she met the love of her life, Ralph Horner.  They were married October 30, 1982, in Ashton, Nebraska and became a family of seven.  In 1989, they moved from Scotia, Nebraska to Russellville where she taught at Crawford Elementary school and then became secretary to the department head of nursing at Arkansas Tech University for many years. 

            During her life she touched many lives.  She loved helping others and was an active member of St. John Catholic Church in Russellville.  Some of her favorite activities were being a Eucharistic Minister to the sick and home bound for her church, scrapbooking, and rooting for her favorite sports teams—Golden Suns and Wonder Boys and others. 

            Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Ralph Horner of Russellville; her brother, Keith (Mary) Boyd of Holiday Isle; her son, Ricky (Peggy) Metteer of Sioux City, Iowa; a daughter, Linda Meetter of Grand Island, Nebraska; a son, Paul (Linda) Horner of Ord, Nebraska; a son, Gary (Jenny) Horner of Kearney, Nebraska; a son, Jeffrey (Laura) Horner of Minden, Nebraska.  She was blessed with 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. 

                        In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Metteer.
