Don passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

A loving husband, dedicated father and protective Papa, Don was born on March 23rd, 1929 to Victor and Carrie Kellogg.  He graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School, Norfolk Junior College and Wayne State College.  He was a stand-out athlete in multiple sports.  He signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Athletics but reported to the armed service the day practice started. He married Marlene Milander in 1956 and they began their 63-year adventure together as teachers in Lancaster, California. Once they returned to Nebraska in 1965, he started Midwest Bridge and Construction Company. He sold the company in 1985 but continued with on-going business ventures.

Don lived each day to the fullest whether it be running his business, vacationing with family, playing golf, skiing, playing cards or the sporting event of choice. He was an avid and devoted fan of his grandchildren, Norfolk Catholic and Husker athletics.   He genuinely supported his grandchildren by attending every extra-curricular activity that they participated in. Don was committed to Catholic education, and devoted time and service to Norfolk Catholic. Don’s love for family and friends was expressed in a caring, teasing manner.  All that knew him where attracted to his childish pranks and his love for time together.

Don was survived by his wife Marlene, and children Dene (Michael) of Omaha, Don (Tammy) Kellogg of Norfolk, Lisa (Jim) Laville of Omaha, and Karlee (Jeff) Ehrenfried of Pierre, South Dakota, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, sister Jane Reuss of Norfolk and brother Bill Kellogg of Nevada, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to a Norfolk Catholic Scholarship fund to be established in Don’s honor, Norfolk Public Library, and the Norfolk YMCA
