Douglas "Doug" E. Buffington

Funeral Services for Douglas E. “Doug” Buffington, 61, Norfolk, will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk.  Reverend Shelly Petz will officiate.  Burial will be in Stanton Cemetery in Stanton.  Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Home for Funerals.

He passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Douglas Earl was born July 7, 1956 to his parents John and Esther (Key) Buffington in Ord, Nebraska.  His family moved to Elgin and Doug graduated from Elgin High School in 1975.  Following graduation, Doug worked many years for the Dudley Laundry Company and in the print shop for Affiliated Foods.

On August 12, 1978, Doug married Deborah Mohnsen at the Westridge United Methodist Church in Norfolk.  To this union, they were blessed with two sons, Keith and Brian.

Doug appreciated the beauty of the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt.  He enjoyed four wheeling.  Douglas delighted in spending time with his family and enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s activities.  He had great memories of family reunions at Medicine Creek.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah, sons Keith Buffington (girlfriend Stephanie Flessner) and Brian (Dena) Buffington, grandchildren Devin, Ashlynn, Destiny Buffington and one due in November, siblings Jeanette (Dennis) Kinnan of Ft. Collins, CO, Alan (Lois) Buffington of Ft. Collins, CO, and Steve Buffington (girlfriend Betty Russell) of Scottsbluff, sister-in-law Pam Buffington, nephews and nieces Shane Buffington, Dustin (Jessica) Kinnan, Secorra (Joe) LeMire, Amy Buffington, Larry Dean Mohnsen, Jr., and Sandra (Aaron) Meisman, and brothers-in law Larry (Shirley) Mohnsen and Michael Mohnsen.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lee.
