Edna N. (Zierke) Uttecht

Funeral services for Edna N. Uttecht, 95, of Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2018, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Reverend Leon Rosenthal will officiate. Burial will be at St. John/Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Uttecht died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at the Norfolk Veterans Home.

Edna was born on April 6, 1923, in Pierce County, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Kiepke) Zierke. She was raised on the family farm west of Pierce. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. Edna attended rural school.

On April 6, 1943, Edna married Vernon A. Uttecht at Zion Lutheran Church. Three children were born to this union. Edna was employed at Lutheran Hospital and the Norfolk Veteran’s Home.

Edna liked doing cross word search puzzles, cooking, baking, camping and dancing. She always enjoyed greeting people. Her passion was care for and spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Oscar Stromberg, of Norfolk and a son and his wife, Randy and Tammy Uttecht, of Pierce; seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Lyle Uttecht, of Lincoln, and a sister-in-law Leila Lienemann, of Denver, CO.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2016, one son, Monte in 2013, three brothers and one sister.
