I worked with Ernie when he was stationed in West Point when I started with the State Patrol. He was an excellent Trooper and I learned a lot from him. Berta taught school with Alice in Tekamah and we were good friends. He will be missed and we have wonderful memories being with Ernie and Alice.

To the Volkmer Family - I was sorry to read of Ernie's passing. I graduated from Nebraska City High School, one year before Ernie graduated from Lourdes Central. I didn't know Ernie real well until he located to Norfolk with the State Patrol. Since I also worked for a state agency, we would see one another at various meetings, events, etc. and at the Legion Club where he was active. We got acquainted and would always visit about goings on in Nebraska City. After he retired from the Patrol, we visited when I would see him at various events at the school. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
