Eva E. (Marlow) Seda

Funeral Services for Eva E. Seda, 95, Norfolk, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the First Baptist Church.  Reverend Caleb Lind will officiate.  Burial will be in Stanton Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Home for Funerals Chapel on Georgia Avenue.  Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements. She passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at her home in Norfolk.

Eva Esther was born September 8, 1923 the fourth of six daughters to her parents Roy and Laura (Martin) Marlow.  She graduated from Norfolk Senior High School.  Following graduation, Eva attended business school in Omaha.  On December 5, 1943, Eva married Ivan “Ike” Seda at the First Baptist Church in Norfolk.  Ike and Eva had four children, they lived and farmed in Stanton County until Ike’s death in 1956.  Following her husband’s death, Eva moved herself and the children to Norfolk, where she began a thirty-six year career as a secretary and sales representative for a monument company in Norfolk. 

Eva was an active member of the First Baptist Church for over ninety years, and a member of the choir for fifty years.   She was also involved in the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, and Norfolk Women’s Club. Eva also volunteered at Faith Regional Health Center for several years.

She is survived by her children Joe (Karen) Seda of Papillion, Linda (Ken) Meikle of Norfolk, and Bob (Gayle) Seda of Mercer Island, WA, eleven grandchildren Diana, Michelle, Scott, Lori, Mike, Jon, Alisha, Ivan, Emily, Phillip, and Melissa, thirty great grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Judy Grimm, sisters Val Marlow, Effie Kahler, Genevieve Pribyl, Vera Hubel, and Laura Filsinger.

Memorials are suggested to the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church or the Special Olympics.
