Larry P Hansen

Funeral services for Larry P. Hansen, 78, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, Norfolk.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk.  Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at Home for Funerals, Norfolk, Nebraska.

            Larry died Monday, January 1, 2018 at Nebraska Medicine, Omaha.

            Larry was born March 20, 1939, to Peter and Lillian Lena Marie (Schulz) Hansen at Wayne. He grew up on the family farm near Wisner. In 1952 at Age 12 they moved to Norfolk. Larry attended and graduated from Norfolk High School. Larry was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

            Larry started working at the Norfolk Daily News as a paper boy and at age 16 he started in the mail room and doing janitorial work for the news. When Larry was 21 he started as a pressman and in 1972 became the Press Foreman. He retired in 2000 after 44 years with the Norfolk Daily News.

            Larry married Lorraine Mary Ronk in 1961 at First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. To this union 3 daughters were born, Lesley Christine, Lynne Diane and Lori Lorraine. They were married for 56 years.

            Larry was a hardworking and conscientious person. He loved his yard, cars and most of all his family.

Larry is survived by his 3 daughters and husbands, Lesley Hansen, Lynne and Dennis Geiger and Lori and Terry Hagge, 6 grandsons, Benjamin, Adam and Colby Geiger, Tyler (Anna), Henry, and Samuel Hagge, a great-grandson, Eli Hagge.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorraine on September 29, 2017, 3 brothers, Dale, Donald (Irene), Forrest (Elaine), a niece, Susan Ruppert and a great nephew, Kevin Starkey.
