Leota F. (Schmidt) Unverfehrt

Funeral services for Leota Unverfehrt, 96, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2018, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Norfolk: Reverend Lee Weander will officiate.  Burial will be in New Lutheran Cemetery, Norfolk.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Home for Funerals, Norfolk, Nebraska.

Lee died Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Heritage of Bel Air.

Leota was born on May 1, 1922 near Hebron, Nebraska to Edward and Emma (Albrecht) Schmidt.  She was baptized on May 14, 1922 and confirmed on May 24, 1936 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hebron, NE.  She received her education in the Hebron area and attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

On July 16, 1944, she married William A. Unverfehrt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hebron, Nebraska.  They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and then moved to Norfolk, Nebraska.  They owned and operated The Abbey Christian Bookstore.  In 1986, they sold the business and both retired.  Lee was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Norfolk, and served on various boards.  She was also a member of the L.W.M.L, Tabitha Society, Lutheran Laymen's League, and belonged to the local chapter of Concordia Seward Guild.

Lee is survived by her children and their spouses:  Margene and Ken Schmidt of Round Rock, Texas; Nancy and Stephen Dinger of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; Joyce and Joel Schafer of Tecumseh, Michigan; Bill and Kathy Unverfehrt of Newton, North Carolina; and Lori and Kalvin Waetzig of Tracy, California; twelve grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
