Otto A. Knapp Jr.

Funeral services for Otto A. Knapp Jr, 76, of Madison will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison.  Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Home for Funerals, Norfolk, Nebraska.

            Otto died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Nebraska Medicine.

            Otto was born March 13, 1942, to Otto A. and Mildred V. (Mueller) Knapp in Norfolk. He was raised in rural Madison, Green Garden area. Otto graduated from Madison High School in 1959. Otto attended Hastings College for 1 year and Norfolk Junior College for 1 year playing football for both schools. While at Norfolk Junior College he met Donna Beckenhauer. They were married May 19, 1963, in Norfolk. They lived in Norfolk and Otto farmed with his dad near Madison. In 1966 they moved to the farm near Madison. In 1974 the family moved into Madison and Otto began trucking full time with Knapp Transportation. He retired in 2002.

            Otto was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison where he served as an Elder and was very active.

            Otto enjoyed fishing, traveling and sports but most of all he loved spending time with his family and attending his children and grandchildren’s activities.

            Otto is survived by his wife Donna of Madison, their 3 children Kelly and Todd Volk of Battle Creek, Kyle and Karen Knapp of Madison, Kary and Camilla Knapp of Omaha, 6 grandchildren Chloe Volk, Hannah, Seth and Eli Knapp, Alexandra and Rebekah Knapp, a brother Vernon and Barbara Knapp of Concordia, MO and a sister Sharon Wright of Madison, and 2 step-brothers, Stuart Hollman and Tom Hollman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-mother Lorene (Hollman) Knapp.
