Robert Ardell Boe returned to his heavenly home on March 25, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends after succumbing to ALS. His devotion to his family and his love and firm belief in God gave him peace throughout his entire life.

Robert was born to Ardell and Ileen (Hintz) Boe on November 30, 1944, in Norfolk, Nebraska.

He attended and was confirmed at Green Garden Lutheran School and Church, west of Madison. Robert graduated from Madison High School in 1962.

Robert married his high school sweetheart Nancy Long on May 27, 1962. They had three children.

Robert and Nancy began their farming career that would last over 56 years. Robert was a very forward-thinking farmer. Throughout his career he raised corn, soybeans, popcorn, seed corn, sunflowers, potatoes and hogs. In 1988, Robert founded Boe Seed Farms. Over the years he raised thousands of acres of commercial seed as well as popcorn and sweet corn seed. He loved to share his agricultural knowledge with other young farmers

Robert was passionate about his Christian faith. He served on the Board of Trustees and the Board of Education at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Green Garden for over 25 years. He also served on the Board of Lay Ministers and the Mission Leadership Council for over 20 years at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk.

During the growth of his business, Robert served on the Board of Directors for Farm Credit Services of America, headquartered out of Omaha and on the Board of Directors for Faith Regional Health Services of Norfolk.

In 2001, Robert was honored by the University of Nebraska’s Center for Entrepreneurship as Nebraska’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

Robert enjoyed being on his boat fishing with Nancy, family and friends. He took many cross-country motorcycle trips with his boyhood best friend Gary Carlson and the “We Ride” group as well as riding with Skip Wingate, Larry Dinkel and Steve Gilbert.

To celebrate Robert and Nancy’s 50th wedding anniversary, they traveled to the Holy Land.  This would remain a highlight to Robert as it helped to celebrate his strong Christian faith.

He will be dearly missed by his loved ones who celebrate that he is at peace with his creator.

Robert’s love of his family and friends was well known. His faith in God, strong character and his wonderful sense of humor made him the best husband, father, grandfather and friend that one could possibly hope for to have in life

He is survived by his wife Nancy, his mother, Ileen Boe, of Cape Coral, Florida, his daughter’s Julie Morgan and her husband Karl, of Norfolk, and Patricia Cackler and her husband Wes of Lansing, Kansas.  His brothers Thomas Boe and Ray Boe of Cape Coral Florida and his daughter in law Marilyn Boe of Norfolk. His beloved grandchildren Brittni Koch and her husband Jason of Norfolk, Dustin Boe and his wife Stephanie of Bennington, Nebraska. Beau Morgan of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Tiffany and Taylor Cackler of Lansing, Kansas and his nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his son Jeff, his father Ardell and his sister in law, Gypsy.
