Funeral Services for Ruth A. Vileta, 79, Norfolk, will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Reverend Shelly Petz will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to service at the church. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
She passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norfolk.
Ruth Ann was born April 21, 1939 to her parents Lee and Alma (Reimer) Sievers in Garwin, IA. She grew up on the family farm near Toledo, IA and attended country school until 8th grade and graduated from Toledo High School in 1957. After graduation, she worked at Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids, IA. On February 20, 1958, she married Lawrence Vileta. They farmed the first two years they were married then moved to Ames, IA where her husband attended ISU. She worked at the Iowa State University Library. After Lawrence graduated, they moved to Manchester, IA. She was secretary for a church in Manchester. In 1965, they moved to Council Bluffs, IA and lived there for 14 years. In May of 1979, they moved to Norfolk. She helped her husband in the car business until his death in 1999.
She enjoyed traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the 49er’s Square Dance Club for many years.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters Julie (Tim) Chval of Bentonville, AR and Jane (Tobin) Smith of Ft. Wayne, IN, three grandchildren Aidan, Ben and Ella Smith, two brothers and three sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister.
