Thelma M. (Brubaker) Stange

Memorial Services for Thelma M. Stange, 89, Columbus, will be 10:30 a.m., October 24, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Norfolk.  Reverend Caleb Lind will officiate.  Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation with family will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue.

She went into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Columbus Community Hospital.

Thelma was born June 4, 1929 in Norfolk, NE, the daughter of Walter and Mildred (Reninger) Brubaker.  She graduated from Norfolk Senior High School.  She was employed as a secretary. 

Thelma married Ray Stange in the First Baptist Church in Norfolk on February 5, 1950.  To this union, three children were born:   Bonnie, Karen, and Douglas.  The couple farmed southwest of Norfolk before moving to a farm south of Stanton in 1958.

She was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church as a young child in 1940.  She served as church clerk and later as church treasurer, a job she held for 17 years.

After 61 years of marriage, she lost her husband, Ray, on February 3, 2011.  At that time, she moved to Columbus to be closer to family.  She resided at Prairie Village Retirement Center.  She enjoyed doing crafts which she shared with the residents. 

Thelma loved the Lord and Savior.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.  Her greatest desire was to have all her family meet her in heaven someday. 

She is survived by her three children Bonnie (Don) Schroeder of Columbus, Karen (John) Ragland of Lake Ozarks, MO, and Doug (Nancy) Stange of Grand Island, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister.
