Virginia L. Tillson

Funeral services for Virginia L. Tillson, 85, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Home for Funerals Norfolk Ave Location: Pastor Ed Felgate will officiate.  Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Home for Funerals, 1203 W Norfolk Ave, Norfolk, Nebraska.

            Virginia died Monday, December 10, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Services.

            Virginia was born May 26, 1933, to Raymond and Susie (Ziegbein) Forbes, at Neligh, Nebraska. She lived with her grandparents John and Inez Forbes while attending first grade in Brunswick. She then attended district 84 in Antelope County. She graduated from Neligh High School in 1950. Virginia worked as a bookkeeper at Consumers Public Power in Neligh after high school.

            Virginia married Roland Tillson on July 19, 1953, in Neligh. They moved to Norfolk in 1964, when they purchased Darling’s Norfolk Floral, renaming it Tillson’s Norfolk Floral.

            Virginia was active in the flower shop and won many awards for designing windows, floats and as a floral designer.

            Virginia is survived by 2 daughters, Colleen (Royce) Mueller of Lincoln, Renee Tillson of Omaha, 6 grandchildren, Chelsea Mueller, Lacey (Greg) Locklear, Aubrey Mueller, Briana Tillson, Mackenzie Tillson, Mariah (Michael) Tillson Wise, great-grandson Ayden Wise and 2 brothers Marvin (Mary) Forbes and Ronald (Nancy) Forbes.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roland in 2000 and son Paul in 2017.

            Memorials are suggested to the Norfolk Rescue Mission.
