William A. Petersen

Funeral services for William A. Petersen, 79, of Stanton will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2019, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Norfolk.  Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. 

Bill died Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Faith Regional Health Services.

Bill was born on November 20, 1939 born to parents Walter and Lucille Petersen of rural Stanton.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Catholic Church in Stanton NE. He attended District 10 Rural School through the eighth grade.  He graduated from Stanton High School in 1957.  Bill then attended Wayne State College graduating in 1961 with a BAE degree.

On August 6, 1961 he was married to Janet Leu at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE They had two sons, William and Jeff.

Bill taught and coached for 12 years in Bancroft, Pilger and Wisner-Pilger.  He was then involved in varying ag related jobs, helping his dad farm and then farming for himself while managing a feed store, running floater and spraying equipment for Stanco and working in the fertilizer plant for the Pilger Coop and equipment business Kollath Equipment. Bill was also a 4-H leader, and fan of the Huskers and Stanton High School activities of our sons and others.    

Survivors include his wife Jan of 57 years, his two sons, William of Phoenix and Jeff of Stanton.  Grandchildren Jessica (Cisco) Lepine, Mackenzie Petersen, and Dalton Cunningham, one great grandson Alexander Lepine, all of Omaha and a great-granddaughter Charotte Cunningham, and a brother Gerald Petersen (Karen) of Stanton, sister in-law Carole (Al) Pickett, nieces, nephews and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, father and mother-in-law.
