Allen Wolff Obituary

Funeral services for Allen D. Wolff, age 88, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Reverend Cal Kapels will officiate. 

The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. 

Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk with military honors conducted by the Army National Guard Honor Guard, American Legion Post 16, and VFW Post 1644. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, in Norfolk. 

Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

Allen passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Allen Dean Wolff was born May 29, 1936, in Madison County to Vernon and Gladys (Sporn) Wolff. He was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Growing up, Allen attended rural elementary school at Warnerville and graduated from Norfolk High in 1953. While in high school Allen served as president of the FFA chapter. He later served in the Army National Guard for seven years earning the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Allen married Sharon Denney on May 29, 1959, at the New England Congregational Church in Stanton, Nebraska. The couple began farming in Stanton County while raising seven children. Allen and his son, Curtis, raised feeder cattle along with a large cow/calf herd. Corn, alfalfa, and pasture surrounded the family farm, earning The Nebraska Pioneer Family Award in 2022. Allen also had a love for horses and kept several. 

He took pride as serving as secretary of Duffy School District #55. Allen loved music and enjoyed his children’s band “The Wolff Pack.” Allen also enjoyed traveling and taking family vacations. He was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sharon; children, Lauri (Ray) Bierman of Fremont, Lisa (Don) Riley of Baltic, South Dakota, Dr. Timothy (Christine) Wolff of Valley Center, Kansas, Curt (Jamie) Wolff of Madison, Wendy (Chris) Rathe of Lincoln and Jon (Tammie) Wolff of Omaha. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Allen was preceded in death by his son, Steven; mother, Gladys Wolff; father, Vernon Wolff; mother-in-law, LaVern Denney; father-in-law, Robert Denney; brothers, Dennis and Roger Wolff; brothers-in-law, Dan Armbruster, George Benson Jr., and Ronnie Schellpeper; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Wolff.

Memorials may be directed to Lutheran High FFA, Christ Lutheran Schools, or the American Diabetes Association.
