She embarked on her heavenly journey with God on May 10, 2025, at her home.
Ann Marie was born on March 11, 1951, in Joliet, Illinois. She was raised on a farm in Illinois. She graduated from Grant Park High in 1969. After graduating, Ann worked as a waitress at a couple truck stops in Grant Park and then as a nurse's aide at a nursing home in Bradley, Illinois.
Ann met the love of her life, Jim, as a pen pal. She married James “Jim” Bahm on November 4, 1972, in the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone, Illinois. They were blessed with two children, Richard and Cadena.
When Jim was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1978, they moved from South Carolina to Nebraska. Ann worked several jobs over the years including Dale Electronics, had an in-home day care, Greater Norfolk Federal Credit Union, Tony's Steakhouse, Renner's Cleaning Service, and worked her last job with the Norfolk Public Schools as a paraprofessional and health tech. She retired after 22 years with NPS in May 2021.
Ann enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, and using decorations that she could put Christmas lights in or around all year in the house. Ann liked smiley faces and drinking Pepsi. Some students at Jefferson remembered her because she would give them flavored water when they took their medication. After retiring, Ann got a lot of enjoyment feeding the bluejays and squirrels from the patio. She would have fun tossing walnuts to the squirrels. Ann also loved to collect buttons. She would take road trips with Jim to various thrift stores in search of buttons she could take home and sort in one of her many jars. Ann even had other people searching for buttons when they would make trips to thrift stores.
Ann is survived by her spouse, Jim; son, Richard (Carla) of Yankton, SD; daughter, Cadena Russell of Norfolk, NE; six grandsons, Andrew, Isaac, Nathan, Simon, Zachary Bahm and Kaden Russell; two brothers, Francis (Deanna) of Manteno, IL, and Don (Ann) of Sims, AR; nieces and their families, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Elsie (Herz) Schroeder; brother, Wayne; niece, Michelle; great-niece, Ella Jane; and brother-in-law, Merle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Jefferson Elementary, 406 N. Cottonwood Street, Norfolk, NE 68701.
