Anne Butterfield

Memorial services for Anne L. Butterfield, age 87, of Norfolk, will be 1:00 p.m. March 24, 2025, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, in Norfolk. Reverend Christopher Asbury will officiate. 

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Anne died Friday, February 21, 2025, at Stanton Health Center.

Anne Louise Butterfield was born on May 20, 1937, in Tilden, Nebraska, to Alfred Elwell and Ruth Helen (Berry) Brown. She graduated from Tilden High School and carried on with her strong work ethic throughout her life. After retiring from Sherwood Medical, Anne continued helping others through her work at Home Instead and by always keeping herself busy with odd jobs. 

Anne’s greatest happiness came from spending time with her family. She treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always filling the room with her infectious laughter, unmatched sense of humor, and quick wit. Anne found joy in tending to her garden, rescuing stray cats, and playing cards and games with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Dale; her daughter, Mary Schapmann of Norfolk; her son, Shawn (Linda) Schutt of Norfolk; her grandchildren, Jacqui, Jamie, Casey, Jake, AJ, Jeff, Joe, and Christina; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; son, Shayne Schutt; and sisters, Lois Hale and Evelyn Graff.

Anne’s kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew and loved her. 

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church or Orphan Grain Train.
