Ara Kay Hague peacefully passed away on June 3, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 7, 1941, in Clearwater, Nebraska, Ara was known for his athletic achievements in six-man football, basketball, and track. He graduated from Clearwater High School in 1961.
On May 20, 1962, Ara married Waunetta Marie Wragge in Clearwater. Together they built a life centered on faith and family. The couple later moved to Norfolk, where Ara worked as a dairy technician for Mid America Dairy. He was a devoted member of Restoration RLDS congregations in both Clearwater and Norfolk.
Ara found joy in coaching his children's sports teams and sharing his love of athletics with others. He especially enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors, believing that any day outside was better than one spent indoors. Whether celebrating life's successes or navigating its challenges, a day spent fishing was always a welcome remedy.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Bel Air Nursing Home for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Ara during his time there.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Ara is survived by his daughter, Renae Claus of Norfolk; his daughter, Rachelle (Dick) Jones and their children, Henry and Cora of Sugar Grove, NC; and his son, Ryan (Jodi) Hague and their children, Emma and Mattox of Elkhorn, NE.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Waunetta; his parents, Willis Grant Hague and Tessie Grace Smith Hague; and his son-in-law, Brad Claus.
Ara will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation for the outdoors, and the many memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.
In lieu of memorials, family request you take a friend fishing.
