Betty Shambley

A memorial service for Betty J. Shambley, age 77, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Mark Anderson will officiate.

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Betty died Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Betty Jane Olson Shambley was born January 15, 1947, at Oakland, Nebraska to Kenneth and Verona (Anderson) Olson. Betty attended Craig Public School and graduated in 1965. She attended Wayne State College, graduating in 1969, with a degree in education. Betty later received her master’s degree from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 1987.

Betty taught at several schools during her teaching career including Neligh in 1968, Giltner in 1969, Oakland Craig from 1969 to 1970, and Battle Creek from 1970 to 2009. She retired after 41 years of teaching.

Betty married Tim Shambley on November 29, 1986, at the Evangelical Free Church in Oakland. They made their home in Battle Creek.

She liked gardening, taking pictures, and going to the casino with friends and family.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Samantha (Burnell) Jackson of Omaha; brother, John (Deb) Olson of Battle Creek; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska.
