Memorial services for Beverly J. "Bev" Smith, age 86, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Pastor Cal Kapels will officiate, with burial in Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, Nebraska.
Visitation and luncheon will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Home for Funerals Chapel, prior to the service.
Bev died Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home in Norfolk.
Beverly J. Smith, daughter of Peter and Edith (Durre) Pallesen, was born March 26, 1938, in Neligh, Nebraska. She graduated from Neligh High School. On July 29, 1956, Beverly was united in marriage to Donald Smith at Neligh, Nebraska.
Beverly lived in Neligh, Holdredge, Omaha, and in Colorado before settling in Norfolk, where she spent the remainder of her life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, racing, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Beverly loved playing cards with friends and family, putt putt golf, and stitching.
Beverly was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
She is survived by her children, Barb (Bruce) Viergutz of Norfolk, Donald, Jr. (Jana) of Norfolk, Rhonda (Wade) Lindsay of Dodge, Nebraska, and Roxanne (Mike) Dusel of Meadow Grove, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Shane, Beau, and MeLeaha (Viergutz) Gutierrez, Justin Lindsay, Jessica (Lindsay) Wolfe, Michaela Lindsay, Kaitlyn (Dusel) Leonard, and Kirsten Dusel; 12 great-grandchildren with one due in September; and one great-great-grandchild due in September.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; brother, Peter Pallesen, Jr.; and sister, Barbara Frerichs.
Family requests that bright colors be worn to Beverly’s service.
