Bill Rood

Memorial services for Bill Rood, age 76, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Pastor Bridget Gately will officiate, with burial at a later date in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk.

Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644, American Legion Post 16, Army National Guard Honor Guard, and American Legion Riders.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, in Norfolk.

Bill died Thursday, March 21, 2024, at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. 

William D. “Bill” Rood, son of Alonzo and GenRose Rood, was born January 24, 1948, at Vallejo, California. Bill’s family moved to Norfolk, Nebraska where he grew up and graduated from Burns High School. He served his country in the United States Army after graduation.

On November 13, 1971, Bill was united in marriage to Judy Hash at Tilden, Nebraska. They were blessed with two children, Kamilla and Jeremy. Bill was employed at Vulcraft in Norfolk for many years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Judy of Norfolk; children, Kamilla (Gary) Hebb of Norfolk and Jeremy Rood of Norfolk; and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister.
