Bonnie Daws Obituary

Bonnie Jean (Riessen) Daws, daughter of Raymond (Mutt) and Azalia (Long) Riessen was born September 10, 1940. Bonnie died Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Bryan Medical Center-West Campus, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 82.

She was raised and educated in McLean and Randolph, Nebraska. Bonnie graduated from Randolph High School.  On June 21, 1958, Bonnie was married to Richard “Dick” Daws and they moved to Wilbur, Nebraska and Bonnie worked at the Crete Hospital. Upon Dick’s graduation from Milford Trade School, they moved back to Randolph and raised four children.

After moving back to Randolph, Bonnie worked for Braden’s Grocery Store for a few years.  Then she worked as a dental receptionist in Norfolk, Nebraska.  After several years working as a dental receptionist, she became a dental assistant in Osmond, Nebraska.  After Dick entered the Farmland Industries system, they moved to different locations in Nebraska, Texas, and Kansas.  Bonnie worked various positions and retired as the customer service representative at Hubbard Milling in Beloit, Kansas.  After retirement in 2009, she moved to Milford, Nebraska.  For the past couple years, Bonnie volunteered at Et Cetera Gift & Thrift Shop in Seward, Nebraska.

Bonnie enjoyed watching all Husker sports, especially football, volleyball, and basketball.  She so enjoyed watching good volleyball that for several years, she attended the NCAA Volleyball Final 4 Championship with her children no matter where it was held.  She also loved reading and working with all of the flowers in her yard.  Family was very important to Bonnie as she was so proud of all them.

Bonnie is survived by her children Kirk and Jolene Daws of Battle Creek, Iowa, Kent and Tammy Daws of Omaha, Nebraska, Karli Daws of Milford, Nebraska, and Koni Daws of Denton, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sister.
