Bonnie died Monday, February 26, 2024, at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk.
Bonnie J. Loyd, daughter of Albert and Pauline (Owens) Nelson, was born February 18, 1938, at Newman Grove, Nebraska. Bonnie graduated from Newman Grove High School.
Bonnie married Glen Gotschall in 1955 and they were blessed with two sons, Mark and Michael. After Glen was discharged from the service, they lived in Broken Bow, Prairie Village, Kansas, Arvada, Colorado, and later in Newman Grove. Glen passed away in 1973. Bonnie married Gene Loyd in 1974, and they were blessed with a son, Steve. She loved her family more than anything and cared for her beloved grandchildren as if they were her own.
A devoted Elvis fan, Bonnie’s dreams came true when she got to see him live in Denver! She also loved animals, especially dogs and squirrels. At one time, she bottle-fed and raised a baby squirrel she named Peanut. Bonnie later inherited a dog grooming business where she groomed and boarded local dogs for over 20 years.
Bonnie was a handywoman, always building and making things, and was affectionately known in her family as the “female Bob Vila.”
She is survived by her sons, Mark (Connie) Gotschall and Steve Loyd; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Michael Gotschall in 2022; and her brother, Marvin.
