Funeral services for Carolyn S. Falk, age 79, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Reverend Neil Gately and Reverend Bridget Gately will officiate, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.
Carolyn died Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk.
Carolyn Sue Falk was born on December 20, 1944, in Central City, NE to Claribel Huston Smith and Harold Donald Smith and passed away in Norfolk, NE. She spent early years of childhood cared for by her maternal grandparents, Walter and Ruth (Smith) Huston near Clarks, NE.
Carolyn's school years began at Country School #35 in Merrick County, NE and later she attended District #8 west of Central City, NE. Carolyn graduated from Central City High School in 1962. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE.
On December 29, 1963, Carolyn married Ladd M. Reeves in Chapman, NE where they farmed and were blessed with four children.
In 1981, Carolyn began a rewarding career with the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Grand Island, NE, which later took her to Battle Creek, MI, Lincoln, NE, and Salisbury, NC, where she retired from the Federal Government in 2001.
After living in Salado, TX for five years, she returned to Lincoln, NE for five years, before moving to her husband's hometown of Norfolk, NE.
On May 29, 1993, Carolyn married Willis J. Falk in the chapel at Stuhr Museum, Grand Island, NE. They were blessed with their blended families of eight grown children and spent enjoyable time with them in retirement. She enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking and keeping in touch with family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Ruth and Walter Huston; her father, Harold Donald Smith; stepmothers, Rose Smith and Claudia Smith both of Florida; mother, Clare Overcash of Lincoln; and one son, Daniel John Reeves.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Willis; four grown children, Douglas (Kathy) Reeves of Central City, Kurt (Bridgette) Reeves of Central City, Carmen (Simon) Lester of Gretna, and Julie Hutchinson of Lincoln; four stepchildren, Cindy (Richard) Doffin of Hoskins, Tammy (Alan) Neuhaus of Norfolk, Kevin (Kate) Falk of Hoskins, and Michelle (Mike) Hamilton of Abilene, KS; along with 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who cherish many memories.
Carolyn enjoyed her eight cousins very much and they loved reminding her that she was the eldest.
Carolyn was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Norfolk, NE and held several offices including Church Council and President of United Women of Faith, as well as Women’s Connection of Norfolk.
