Chance died Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
Chance James Becker was born in Norfolk on December 16, 1993, to Serena (Carstens) Clarkson and Donald Henry Sand. He was adopted at a young age, but reconnected with his birth mother in 2011, and the two were inseparable ever since. He would call her daily and text as often as he could. They seemed to share an undeniable connection.
Upon turning 18, Chance joined the Marines and was proud of his time in the service. He was a jack of all trades, successfully running CJ’s Handyman Service in Utica, Nebraska.
He loved his pit bull, Bella, and playing Dungeons and Dragons with his high school friend Brian Koch. Chance also loved horror themes and loved collecting scary memorabilia. He loved Dodge trucks and tinkering with his trucks and toys.
He is survived by his daughter, Patience Clarkson of Norfolk; parents, Serena (Tom) Clarkson of Norfolk and Donald (Sherri) Sand of Council Bluffs, Iowa; significant other, Amanda Nye of Utica; siblings, Faith Breaker of Kearney, Carissa Clarkson of Salina, Kansas, Zach (Dakota) Redwing of Colby, Kansas, Cole (Laura) Clarkson of Salina, Kansas, Brittani Sivitak of Grand Island; grandparents, Marilyn Carstens of Norfolk, Sally Clarkson of Neligh, and Francis Sand of Gregory, South Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, LeRoy Clarkson of Neligh; and aunt, Laura Sand.
