Mass of Christian Burial for Charles “Charlie” Burbach, age 60, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Gregory Carl will be celebrant.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
Military honors will be provided by Millard American Legion Post 374, Millard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8334, Army National Guard Honor Guard, and American Legion Riders.
Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk, with a 7:00 p.m. rosary.
Charlie died surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, after a battle with cancer.
Charles Adam Burbach, son of Bernard and Helen (McFadden) Burbach, was born January 24, 1964, at Yankton, South Dakota. Charlie graduated from Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in Elgin, Nebraska. He served his country in the United States Army from October 25, 1983, until he was honorably discharged on October 23, 1987.
Charlie was married twice in his lifetime and was blessed with six children: Meghan, Adam, Annie, Corey, Benjamin, and Deborah. He was also blessed with two daughters through marriage, Elizabeth and Makayla.
Charlie lived in various places throughout his life, but called Norfolk, Nebraska home for the last 25 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Norfolk and the Knights of Columbus. Charlie was also a member of the recovery community and was active in Alcoholics Anonymous until his death.
Survivors include his children, Meghan (Tucker) Heebner, Elizabeth Fertig, Makayla Petersen, Annie Burbach, Corey Burbach, Benjamin Burbach, and Deborah Burbach; one grandchild; seven siblings, Dana Kubo of Norfolk, Kris (Curt) Rossman of Scottsbluff, Angie Miller of Bozeman, Montana, Lisa (Danny) Payne of Neligh, Amy (Tim) Baker of Neligh, Paul (Courtney) Burbach of Norfolk, Matt (Meghan) Burbach of Cape Coral, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his son, Adam in infancy; his parents; and brother-in-law, Kim Kubo.
