Christopher Christie Obituary

Christopher Dale Christie, lovingly known to many simply as “Chris,” passed away in his sleep on May 9, 2026, in Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of 45. He was born on May 23, 1980, in Whittier, California.

Christopher was truly one of a kind — a man with a huge heart, a quick wit, and a personality that could brighten a room. He had a natural way of making people laugh and smile, always ready with a joke, funny comment, or playful sense of humor that made those around him feel at ease. To know Chris was to know a true character in the very best sense of the word.

He loved deeply and helped others wholeheartedly whenever he could. Whether through his work or everyday life, Christopher spent much of his time caring for people. He worked both as a janitor and as a nurse, doing the jobs many overlook but that require compassion, patience, and humility. He never shied away from helping someone in need.

Christopher also loved spending time online with his Xbox friends and gaming community. He especially enjoyed games such as Destiny 2 and Tom Clancy’s Division 2 and valued the friendships he built through gaming over the years. Another hobby Christopher truly enjoyed was Renaissance archery, where he would dress in medieval clothing and spend time shooting arrows at targets. It was something that brought him joy and allowed his fun, adventurous side to shine. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed watching superhero shows and movies, especially The Flash, along with many Marvel and DC favorites.

Above all else, Christopher was a Child of Christ. He was a father, brother, uncle, friend, gamer, caregiver, and family man whose memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

One of the greatest loves of Christopher’s life was his only son, Christopher “Topher” Michael Gibbons-Christie. Chris loved his son beyond words and would do absolutely anything for him. The bond they shared was deeply special, and Topher was a constant source of pride, love, and joy in his father’s life.

He leaves behind his beloved son, Christopher Michael Gibbons-Christie, age 26, of Blair, Nebraska; his brothers Ronnie D. Christie, age 62, of Phoenix, Arizona, and John William Wicks, age 61, of Taft, California; his sister, Diana April Beverley San Fillipo (Christie), age 51, of Copperas Cove, Texas; and his Aunt Judy Easterling (Christie) of Ohio, along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones.

Christopher was preceded in death by his parents, April Dea Galbreath and Randy Dale Christie; grandparents Glenn Allen Galbreath and Beverley Arleen Galbreath (Boggs); grandparents Verle Christie Sr. and Anna Elmina Christie (Allen); his brother Verle Glenn Christie; cousin Christian Caleb Hawlish; and brother-in-law Jason Timothy San Fillipo.

Christopher will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for his humor, kindness, faith, and the joy he brought into the lives of others.
