Dana W. Nielsen

Funeral services for Dana W. Nielsen, age 72, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Reverend Tim DeFor will officiate, with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Madison, Nebraska. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the chapel. 

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Dana passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at his home in Norfolk. 

Dana W. Nielsen was born on May 13, 1953, in Norfolk, the son of Norman and Margie (Knull) Nielsen.  He lived on the farm until an early age, then moved to the Beatrice State Home. Dana later moved to Norfolk on February 14, 1974, and became a client of Region IV/NorthStar Services, residing in group homes and participating in their day services.

Dana absolutely loved being with family and friends!  He loved fishing, animals, and community events.  Dana found joy in everything.

Dana is survived by his two sisters, Donna (James) Brooks and Nora (Richard) Wright; two nephews, Kirby Brooks and Elijah (Katie) Brooks; and great-nephew Slater, all of Indianapolis, IN; half-sister, Bette (Nielsen) Sperry of Lincoln; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Leroy.
