David Lee Henery was born September 9, 1961, in Tilden and passed away January 23, 2026, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
David was the son of Harold and Shadron (Bonge) Henery of Elgin. He attended country school then Elgin Public Schools, graduating in 1980. He enlisted in the Army and served his country proudly from 1980-1986 as a Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic/Operator.
When he returned home, he lived in Minden, where he worked for Fort Kearney Feeders and for the County Roads Department.
David then moved to Laurel and then to Randolph and he worked for Olberding Trucking as a milk truck driver. Due to failing health, he took an early retirement.
David loved to play cards with his family, creating horseshoe art, running farm equipment, chatting with Facebook friends, watching M*A*S*H and Hogan’s Heroes reruns, and the companionship of his dogs.
David is survived by his mother, Shadron (Shady) Henery of Neligh; brother, Bill Henery of Pierce; sister, Janet (Gerry) Mansfield of Norfolk; nieces, Chelsea (Ryan) Gaunt, and Ciera Nygren; aunts, Sandy Henery and Barb Jones; and uncle, Michael Henery; as well as many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; nephew, Adam Henery; and cousin, Robert Henery; and grandparents, Everett and Sis Bonge and Robert and Violet Henery.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
