David passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Stanton, Nebraska doing what he loved, being outdoors, calling in turkeys, and waiting for the ultimate prize.
David Allen Remter, son of Robert and Margaret (Curran) Remter, was born August 31, 1965, in Fargo, North Dakota. As an infant and young child, he lived in Spencer, Nebraska, Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, and overseas, all before the age of six, when he moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, where he grew up and attended school, graduating in 1984.
After graduation, he moved to Wyoming to work at a ranch and then joined the PRCA Rodeo circuit as a bull rider and rodeo clown. David later returned to Norfolk. He was united in marriage with Sue (Bakenhus) Mastny on September 15, 1990. The couple was blessed with two children, Nikki and Nathan. Sue passed away in 2017.
Over the years in Norfolk, David worked a number of jobs, including at Bauer’s Mowing Service, at a dairy farm, and at King’s Lanes. He spent 30 years hauling gas for Matheson Gas and later worked for the City of Norfolk at the transfer station.
A lover of the great outdoors, David most enjoyed hunting, especially (in descending order of importance to him) turkey, deer, and open water and ice fishing. He built cars and was active in the local racing community with Team Monte Carlo, where he was willing to help with the success of others. David was often tinkering with his impressive collection of mechanical devices and tools. He was a semi-pro bowler and had great appreciation for a good wool sock.
He is survived by his daughter, Nikki (Ben) Bails and their children Kambria and Oakley; son, Nathan Remter (Shelby Arens); partner, Brenda Grabowski; and aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Sue.
