Delores "Dee" Wachter

Funeral services for Delores M. “Dee” Wachter, age 87, of Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2024, at Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Norfolk.  Reverend Luther Zuberbier will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk. 

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church. 

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Dee passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Delores M. “Dee” Wachter was born February 7, 1937, at home in Stanton County, Nebraska to August and Helen (Dreger) Grimm. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on March 7, 1937, and confirmed on May 14, 1950. Dee attended country school and then St. Paul’s Lutheran School from 4th grade to 8th grade. Dee graduated from Norfolk Senior High School.

Dee married Loyd Mittelstaedt, and the couple later divorced.

On October 21, 1979, Dee married Darreld Wachter. 

Dee worked at J.C. Penney’s and then Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Dee enjoyed playing cards. She had a strong faith and was active in her church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darreld; brothers and sisters, Gary (Hilda) Grimm, Lorene (Vic) Klug, Althea (Carl) Oestreich, Ed (Phyllis) Grimm, Luella (Bill) Rilus, and Gib (Ruth and Lorene) Grimm; and several nieces and nephews.

Dee is survived by her son, Marv Mittelstaedt; daughter, Michelle (Craig) Horejsi; grandsons, Cole (Kirsten) Horejsi and Kyle Horejsi; granddaughter, Brooke Horejsi (fiancé Caleb Kroll); and great-grandson, Casen Horejsi.
