Diane L. Linke, daughter of Norm Rood and Bonnie (Burrows) Rood, was born March 22, 1949, in Genoa, Nebraska. After graduating from Genoa High School in 1967, Diane received her bachelor’s degree from Kearney State College in 1971. In college, she discovered her love for theatre arts, participating in many productions. Her first teaching job out of college was as drama instructor at Sidney St. Pat’s, where she taught for two years before moving to Norfolk in 1974, when she got a job at Norfolk Catholic High School, teaching drama and speech until she retired in 2011. Diane possessed great artistic ability. She loved to draw, using this talent in her classroom designing sets for plays. Diane was a dedicated and beloved teacher and mentor, even traveling with her students to Europe and Mexico.
Diane loved movies, especially romantic ones, along with romantic music, and particularly enjoyed butter brickle ice cream. She also loved sharing meals with her dogs, Daisy, Buddy, and most recently, Leah. Above all, her greatest passion was helping people find the Lord.
On July 19, 1992, Diane married Ron Linke.
Survivors include her husband, Ron; children, Summer (Aaron) Holzkamp, Gabe (Ashley) Linke, and Katherine Linke; grandchildren; siblings, Randy Rood and Peggy Rood; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Leah.
