Donna Benson

A coffee reception for Donna M. Benson, age 95, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, in Norfolk.

Donna died Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Norfolk.

Donna Mae Benson, daughter of Charles and Alma (Gaskin) Luehrs, was born July 20, 1929, in Chadron, Nebraska. She attended school in Long Pine, graduating from Long Pine High School.

On September 10, 1950, Donna married Eric “Benny” Benson III. They lived in Long Pine for several years before moving to Norfolk in 1954. The couple was blessed with four children, Rick, Sally, Reggie, and Carol.

Though Donna was primarily a homemaker, she worked for a time at Gibson’s and Goodrich Dairy Store. She was a member of the Rebekah’s Lodge, the Lincoln School PTA, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. Donna loved to socialize with the Good Time Bunch, the Sunset Plaza Coffee Group, and 49ers Square Dancing.

Survivors include her children, Rick (Bev) Benson of Norfolk, Sally (Paul) Splittgerber of Norfolk, and Reggie (Kelly) Benson of Battle Creek, son-in-law, Keith Gall of Leigh, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jeanie Burkinshaw of Long Pine, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Eric; daughter, Carol; parents, Charles and Alma; brothers, Dean, Valoris, Junie, and Donald.
