Donna L. Rodekohr was born in Shelby, Nebraska on March 8, 1940, to Floyd and Norma (Rosenbury) Hester. Donna was baptized on May 22, 1954, at the Catholic church in Shelby and was confirmed on May 30, 1965, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. She attended school in Shelby and Columbus, Nebraska.

Donna met the love of her life, John “Bud” Rodekohr, when he asked her to dance in Norfolk, Nebraska. They were married on November 28, 1964, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and were blessed with 59 wonderful years together.

Donna and John lived their life on the family farm outside of Battle Creek, where they raised three children, Tim, Kathy, and David.

In addition to farming and raising livestock, primarily pigs, Donna found joy through community involvement as a member of St. John Lutheran Church, as a Highland Precinct Election worker, and as a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

Her hobbies included bowling, making quilts for family and friends, and Sunday gameday, playing cards and board games. She enjoyed traveling and the many vacations that she and John took together. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her husband, John “Bud” Rodekohr of Battle Creek; two children, Kathy Kruse (Clark Fairbanks) of Sheridan, Wyoming and David Rodekohr (Laura Tech) of Battle Creek; one sister, Clara Armstrong; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tim Rodekohr; three sisters, Mildred Sellers, Jean Ciesinski, and Margaret Gonnerman; and one brother, Rex Hester.
