Dr. James R. Crabb

Memorial Mass for Dr. James R. Crabb, age 70, of Tilden, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Patrick McLaughlin will be the celebrant, with inurnment in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. 

Visitation with family will be one hour prior to service at the church.

James passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at his home in Tilden. He demonstrated great courage and strength during his recent battle with cancer.

James Robert was born September 20, 1953, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Robert and Mary Ann (Abler) Crabb. James grew up in Norfolk and graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1972. Following graduation, he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. James had an accomplished collegiate career, earning his Master’s of Science degree in Microbiology and a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1982.

Soon after, he opened his dental practice in Tilden. At that same time, James met the love of his life, Diana. On April 26, 1985, James married Diana Brittell at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Melissa and Jennifer. He enjoyed being a father and later a grandfather to Weston Stahlecker and Alyson Manning. 

James was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronald. 

He is survived by his wife, Diana; daughters, Melissa (Tyler) Manning of Burress and Jennifer (Trevor) Stahlecker of Lincoln; granddaughter, Alyson Mae Manning; grandson, Weston Brooks Stahlecker; and many other precious family members.
