Memorial services for Edwin D. “Ed” Lindsay, age 86, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, formerly of Norfolk, Nebraska will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Norfolk. Reverend Brian High will officiate.
Visitation with family will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Grand Island Cemetery in Grand Island, Nebraska. Reverend Lisa Ewald will officiate.
Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
Ed passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at his home in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Edwin Donald was born November 22, 1939, to John W. and Ferne B. (Binning) Lindsay in Grand Island, Nebraska. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School and attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
On July 20, 1963, Ed married Janis Lynn Fletcher in Grand Island. The couple was blessed with two children, John and Megan.
Ed was the manager of Fullerton Lumber Company in Norfolk.
He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Norfolk. Ed loved fishing, volunteering at his church and the local food pantry, and playing gin rummy with his family.
He is survived by son, John Lindsay of Norfolk; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Tony Farina of Mount Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Jack Lindsay of Spring Lake, NC, Jillian Lindsay of Papillion, NE, Olivia Asuncion of Patchogue, NY, and Maxwell Asuncion of Marlboro, NJ; sister Karen Fitzgerald of Urbana, IL; and sister-in-law, Lisa Fletcher of Grand Island.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Janis in 2010.
