Elaine R. (Zohner) Scheurich

Funeral services for Elaine R. Scheurich, age 90, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Reverend Cal Kapels will officiate, with burial in Hoskins Cemetery in Hoskins, Nebraska.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Elaine died Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Elaine Rose Scheurich was born in Battle Creek, Nebraska, to John and Ruby (Finkral) Zohner on November 22, 1932. She attended school in Battle Creek, graduating from Battle Creek High School in 1950. After high school, Elaine went to college for education and went on to teach at a country school near Battle Creek.

Elaine met Philip Scheurich at Kings Ballroom one night when he asked her to dance. The couple married on July 17, 1971. She became a stay-at-home mom when their two children were born, daughter Michelle and son Lynn.

Elaine was a wonderful cook. Her roast beef and scalloped potatoes in particular would bring her family running to the dinner table. The Scheurich house often smelled of the warm, fresh bread she would bake. Family was important to Elaine. She cherished the memories of family trips to Florida, Colorado, and California, to name a few.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Philip; children, Michelle (Shannon) Sullivan and Lynn (Olivia) Scheurich; and grandchildren, Charlie, Sam, and Willow Sullivan, and Hannah, Joen, and Oliver Scheurich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Michael; and brothers, Milan (1939), Gary (1999), and Gene (2023).
