Emily Miller

Emily A. Thalken Miller was born October 29, 1926, to Louis and Frances Vlach in Howells, Nebraska. Emily passed away at Astoria Senior Living Center in Omaha, Nebraska on May 19, 2024, at the age of 97.

Emily graduated from Howells High School and married Wallace Thalken in 1944. They were blessed with three children. Emily and Wallace resided on a farm near Leigh until 1959. They then purchased a farm near Stanton. Wallace passed away on December 30, 1969.

In 1974, Emily married Kenneth G. Miller. They lived in Omaha until his death in 1990.

Emily is survived by her three children, David (Loraine) Thalken, Lois (John) Eberly, and Jan (Mark) Lauritsen; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathy Vlach of Benson, MN; and nieces and nephews.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Frances Vlach; brother, Bo and his wife Angela Vlach; sister, Martha and her husband Ben Nadrchal; brother Joseph Vlach; brother, Louis and his wife Mildred Vlach; and baby John, infant son of John and Lois Eberly.

A private funeral mass will be held on June 13, 2024, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Omaha, with burial at a later date in Stanton, Nebraska.
