Gary L. Dickes

Gary L. Dickes, age 80, of Norfolk, Nebraska passed away on November 29, 2024, at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Center in Norfolk. Gary was born on February 22, 1944, in Randolph, Nebraska. He graduated high school and enlisted in the United States Army.

Upon his return, Gary worked for the railroad for 33 years. He was fond of fishing and cherished quiet moments by the water, rod in hand, enjoying the solitude. A true fan of Old Milwaukee, he could be found with a cold can in hand any time after 5:00pm.

Known for his gruff demeanor and sharp wit, Gary had a remarkable ability to string together swear words like a poet crafting a masterpiece. Beneath the tough exterior was a heart that cared deeply for his family and four-legged friends. His presence will be greatly missed, but his love for the simple pleasures of life will live on in the memories of those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy (Graber) Dickes; his son, Mike and better half Jody; his daughter, Holly and her husband John along with their sons RJ and Brody; and his sister, Sharon Tilton.   

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo; mother, Opal; and brother, Jerome (Burr) Dickes.
