Gene L. Butterfield

Private Memorial Services for Gene L. Butterfield, age 81, of Norfolk, NE will be held Monday morning, July 22, 2024 at the Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue.  Reverend Gordon Braun will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by the Army National Guard Honor Guard, VFW Post 1644 and American Legion Post 16.   Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

He passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk.

Gene was born March 17, 1943 in Atkinson, Nebraska to Livelle “Bill” and Doris (Stevens) Butterfield.  He served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1963 until 1966. 

Beginning in 1978, Gene owned Tri State Sewing and Waterbeds until he retired.

On December 6, 1981, Gene married Linda Stracke in Norfolk, Nebraska.  

He was an avid radio control airplane pilot.  Gene enjoyed coin collecting and growing tomatoes. 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and wife Linda.  

He is survived by his children Sheila (Terry) Haas of Yankton and Shad Butterfield (Lynn Poppe) of Norfolk, grandchildren Zack Haas (Rhealyn Ingram), Paige Butterfield, Skye (Mitch) Dillon, Rayna Butterfield (fiancé Tanner Specht), Hunter Haas, and Garrett Haas, five great grandchildren, siblings Lorraine (Michael) Davis, Lenny (Jan) Butterfield, and Linda (Rich) Fletcher, and nieces and nephews.
