Funeral services for Gerald F. “Jerry” Bippes, age 85, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, in Norfolk. Reverend Bridget Gately will officiate.
The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2024, at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Reverend Michael Brown will officiate.

Jerry died Monday, November 4, 2024, at Arbor Care Center-Countryside in Madison, Nebraska.
Gerald Frank “Jerry” Bippes, son of Edwin “Ed” and Dorothy (Hardenburger) Bippes, was born October 17, 1939, in Fall City, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm in Stella, Nebraska, where he attended school. After high school graduation, Jerry attended Peru State College and then the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he attained his master’s degree in education.
On June 6, 1967, Jerry married Beverly Sperry. They were blessed with one son, Bruce.
After his graduation from college, Jerry taught in Ruskin, Nebraska and Guide Rock, Nebraska before embarking on his long career in school administration as the principal in Emerson, Nebraska and later in Madison, Nebraska where he remained until his retirement in 1995. He also taught P.E. and coached girls’ volleyball during his career in education.
Jerry enjoyed playing cards, collecting coins, and traveling all over the United States. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Above all, Jerry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with others, chatting, and joking.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; son, Bruce Bippes of Norfolk; sisters, Huldah Lunzman and June Taylor both of Auburn, Nebraska; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Dorothy Bippes; brother, Ed “Bud” Bippes; sisters, Lorraine Schuler and Jane Coatney; and parents-in-law, Eugene and Edith Sperry.
