Harold died Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Harold Leroy Blair, son of Walter and Alice (Blair) Leonard, was born March 5, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa. When Harold was 18 months old, his parents, two brothers, and a sister were killed in a train/car accident in Sioux City, IA. Only little Harold survived and as a result of the accident, he lost his right arm. He was adopted and raised by his uncle and aunt, James and Mary (Leonard) Blair on a farm near Pender, NE. Harold graduated from Pender High School in 1961.

After graduating from high school, Harold married Phyllis Evers and they had three children together. In 1996, Harold married Doris Hulsebus.

Harold remained involved with his farming roots by working on farm equipment at various shops around the area (Pender John Deere, Lutz, Dinkel Implement, and Kolterman Farm Equipment in Pierce). He finished his career working at Ag Specialties Welding. He was a wealth of information to farmers and mechanics. Harold never considered himself disabled, and it was often said that he did more with one arm than many do with two. Harold was known as a kind, hard-working, independent, reliable man. He was quite the prankster as well!

Harold never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved classic Country Western dancing and watched John Wayne movies any chance he had. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grand children’s various activities, watching drag racing, and touring old barns.

Harold is survived by his children, Duane (Shawn) Blair, Scott (Beth) Blair, and Natalie (Ryan) Plock; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his second wife, Doris; and four stepchildren.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Walter and Alice Leonard; siblings, Larry, Dale, and Doris Leonard; adoptive parents, James and Mary Blair; and brother, Dennis Blair.
