Funeral services for James R. “Jim” Pryor, age 79, of Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Reverend Eric Gradberg will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne with Military Honors conducted by the Army National Guard Honor Guard, American Legion Post 43 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5291.

Jim passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk with his family by his side.
James Russell Pryor was born December 10, 1945, in Wayne, Nebraska to Russell and Ila (Carlson) Pryor. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1963, then served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Wayne State College in 1972.
On January 20, 1973, Jim married Sallie Bergt at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne.
Jim served as a postal supervisor in Norfolk from 1977 until retirement in 2001. In retirement, Jim continued to work as a tax preparer at H&R Block until 2017.
Jim loved the outdoors, and he enjoyed hunting and shooting. He was a long-time member of the Northeast Nebraska Shooting association where he most recently served as president. Often, when his kids called the house, they would hear “he’s at the range.” Jim loved to sit and visit with anyone who was around. He had a great sense of humor and was always joking around. Jim was a calm presence and a kind soul. He most loved spending time with his family and absolutely adored his grandchildren.
Jim was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Henry Thomsen; as well as his in-laws, Bob and Shirley Bergt.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sallie; daughter, Susan Pryor-Johnson and her husband Josh Johnson of Wayne and their children Joslyn, Gracyn, and Tate; son, Tom Pryor and his wife Valerie Pryor of Lincoln and their children Harper and Camden; sister-in-law, Beth Ann (Tim) Sharer; brother-in-law, Bob (Helen) Bergt; nieces and nephews, Dee (Cal) Dixon, Pam Penfield, Corbin (Shannon) Sharer, David Bergt, and Melissa Bergt; and many cousins.
Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
